Egypt Adventure Trips — Luxury Egypt Tours
Egypt Beyond
the Temples
Desert safaris, Red Sea reefs, and mountain treks — active adventures in Egypt's wildest landscapes.
View TripsEgypt's Wilder Side
"Beyond the temples, Egypt is desert, mountain, and reef — and it rewards those willing to leave the paved road."
Not every COMETRA journey revolves around a temple or a museum. Egypt's White Desert, Red Sea coast, and Sinai high mountains offer a genuinely different kind of travel — camping under chalk rock formations, diving reefs ranked among the world's best, or climbing to a mountaintop chapel at dawn. These trips are active by design, run with experienced local guides who know the terrain, and can be combined with any of COMETRA's cultural itineraries.

What Makes an Adventure Trip Different?
COMETRA's adventure trips leave the temples and museums behind for Egypt's wilder landscapes — the White Desert's chalk formations, the Red Sea's coral reefs, and the high mountains of Sinai.
Each route is genuinely active. The White Desert safari involves 4x4 travel over unpaved terrain and a night camping outdoors; the Sinai trip includes a real trek with meaningful elevation gain, typically timed to reach Mount Sinai's summit before sunrise; and the Red Sea trip is built around daily diving or snorkelling excursions rather than a single day trip.
None of these require professional-level fitness, but a reasonable level of comfort with walking, heat, and (for the desert and mountain trips) basic camping is expected. Diving trips are matched to your certification level, with options for complete beginners through to experienced divers.
Every COMETRA adventure trip travels with an experienced local guide who knows the terrain, and can be combined with a Nile cruise, Cairo stay, or any other COMETRA itinerary as an active addition to a broader Egypt journey.

Everything You Need to Know
Answers to the most common questions about adventure travel in Egypt with COMETRA Travel.
No, but a reasonable level of comfort with walking, heat, and basic outdoor conditions is expected. The Sinai trek involves the most physical exertion; the White Desert safari is mostly vehicle-based with lighter walking; Red Sea trips can be tailored to any fitness or diving level.
No — the Red Sea Diving & Snorkelling Adventure can be arranged for complete beginners through PADI course add-ons, snorkellers who don't dive at all, or certified divers looking for specific dive sites.
COMETRA arranges proper camping equipment, bedding, and prepared meals for both routes — this is genuine outdoor camping, but comfortable and fully supported, not a rough survival experience.
Yes. All three adventure routes are designed to slot into a broader Egypt itinerary — contact us to combine an adventure trip with any of COMETRA's other journeys.
Warm layers are essential, even though Egypt is generally hot — Sinai's high mountains get genuinely cold at night and before sunrise. COMETRA provides a detailed packing list once your trip is confirmed.
Yes. No prior desert or camping experience is needed — your guide and driver handle all the logistics, from navigation to setting up camp.
